My whole life I felt blessed to have a sister who I am lucky enough to call my best friend.
When my bright and talented little sister was just 14 when she had a diagnosis that would change her life forever.
She was diagnosed with depression. She feel deep into the depths of darkness. She was put on antidepressants. She was in and out of A&E, regularly seen by a crisis team and self harmed. I had lost the girl I loved so dearly and could do nothing.
In November she got to her lowest point and was put into a mental health unit for 3 weeks due to overdosing and overwhelming suicidal thoughts. At this point she felt she had no future and could not share her feelings with those closest to her-she wrote her suicide note.
But with the help of the Samaritans, she persevered and managed to escape that dark place, we are so lucky to have her, stronger than ever with us today. My best friend, sister and role model. I am so proud of you.
I am doing this Skydive for the Samaritans, they helped her in her hour of need, and gave her a comforting ear when she felt she had nooone. But not everyone is so lucky, I want to give back and help at least one person and their family.
