Trek26 Lake District 2019 - 26 miles · 20 July 2019 ·
I’m going to trek the Lake District for 26 miles to support Alzheimer’s Society.
The facts around Dementia have always spoken levels to me and I’ve decided I want to raise money and help contribute to researching effective treatments to combat the rapidly increasing number of people suffering from the condition.
Here are a few powerful facts I’ve found about the disease:
The cruelest part of this disease is watching loved ones become a shadow of the person they once were. They cannot remember basic things such as who you are, where they are and what they’re doing or, even, who they are themselves.
Their lifetime of memories have disappeared. It’s simply heartbreaking.
Part of this fund raising event for Alzheimer’s Society will be put towards developing the UK’s first dedicated Dementia Research Institute, which will be a huge step forward in working towards discovering treatments and, maybe one day, a cure.
Please help me in fighting for this cause and changing the future for the better.
