Rebecca received incredible care at St. Luke's, Rathgar. It was the location of her 23 radiation treatments, so she was allowed to receive chemotherapy there as well. Of the 3 hospitals, she was treated in, St. Luke's was where she felt most at home. She couldn't walk down the hallway without being stopped by a nurse, technician, therapist or old childhood friend who worked there. On bad days post-chemo, the day ward staff welcomed her with open arms and set her right in their comfy chairs. They welcomed Jessica and her laptop, Halloween picnics, and a visit on Christmas Eve with the violin.
Rebecca was admitted 3 times for internal radiation (brachytherapy). The irony is that the radiation was completely effective in removing the tumors from her cervix, so the St Luke's staff deserve commendations for completing that part of the mission.
We are forever grateful for the welcoming atmosphere and world class care at St Luke's. It was such a safe place to be sick in, especially for a person who had never spent a night in hospital!
We hope that you can make a gift in Rebecca's honor, and we thank you for your generosity.
