The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. This Summer we will be donning our most attractive walking shorts* to raise money for an important charity, Macmillan, by walking up a mountain in the middle of the night.

Cancer is a disease that will affect all of us in our lifetime, either directly or through a family member or close friend, as we well know though personal experience. Two years ago Alan lost his father Terry** to cancer, and last year his uncle Brian as well.

Charities such as Macmillan help to provide the care needed to help people stay strong when fighting cancer, as well as providing important support for their families through difficult times. This is why we have chosen to fundraise for Macmillan. We hope that you will be able to donate any amount, great or small, to help us support them.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.

*There are no such things as attractive walking shorts

**We are not sure that Terry would have viewed this as a sensible way to spend a Saturday night but it seemed a better way to raise money than a Terry Pratchett reading and bitter drinking marathon.
