Story
Through my birth group for my 3rd son I met an amazing woman called Emily. Her story immediately caught my attention, as she was using a surrogate to carry her baby due to having a lung transplant previously. Getting to know Emily, I found she was an amazingly kind, strong and just a plain lovely lady, and she loved all things pink and sparkly. She campaigned for more awareness for organ donation through the charity that she co-founded - Live Life Then Give Life. It was also down to Emily that I decided to give blood for the first time last year, after seeing her posting on Facebook encouraging others to do so.
Sadly just days after Christmas 2014 Emily passed away after complications from her second lung transplant. This hit myself and members of our birth group really hard as it was just such a shock. So, a large group of us will finally meet as we run in memory of Emily, and raise as much money as possible for her charity.
The Leeds Half Marathon takes place on 10th May 2015, which is coincidentally also the weekend of my 30th birthday. For months I have been wondering how to mark this 'dreaded' milestone birthday. Now I have an amazing way to remember it forever.
This is probably one of the hardest things I have done in my life so far. I am not athletic. I have never run. Ever. So this is majorly daunting for me. But I am really looking forward to hopefully finishing the run, and acomplishing something massive to me. I have been wanting to get back into shape since having children - what better kick up the backside can you get ?!
Craig Ramsell has also volunteered to run along side me as moral support, which I am extremely thankful for !! He will be helping me with my fundraising, so if you would like to sponsor Craig, please do so here.
So, please please help us by donating whatever you can. Please only give what you can. We will be grateful for every penny.
Could I please kindly ask you to share this page wherever possible to help me raise money for a worthy cause, but also to raise awareness for organ donation ? Thank you :-)
** Thank you for taking the time to read my page.
