💜60 miles in March💜
Myself and Sophie will be walking / running 60 miles through March to raise money for Dementia UK.
Those of you that know me will know that Dementia is something extremely close to my heart having watched my dad deteriorate with Alzheimer’s, Vascular and Frontotemporal Dementia over the last few years.
The signs started when he was aged just 53 years and his 4 children were aged between 12 and 18. Watching your closest loved ones lose their sense of who they are and their independence and having to care for them day in day out is something no one should have to experience but as a family we pulled together to make him feel safe and loved. Sadly there is no cure for Dementia but there are many things that can be done to make their last years enjoyable, fulfilling and comfortable for them.
We will be raising the money to go towards the families, centres, carers, nurses that provide a safe and happy environment for them during this time. I know my mum has been nothing but strong and incredible throughout but without the help both emotionally and physically from these organisations things would have been so much harder. Any donation would be hugely appreciated however big or small.
My dad turned 60 in January so 60 miles in March, a mile for every year he’s lived so far💜
