Story
In 2017 we lost my sister's partner Andy, and in 2020 we also lost my friend Benjamin to Bowel Cancer. Ever since I've been passionate about raising vital funds for Bowel Cancer UK in their memories - last year (2022) I climbed Mount Kilimajaro, raising just over £4,300. And now I'm taking on the London Marathon as part of #TeamBowelCancer in a bid to raise even more.
I started running back in 2012 because I wanted to run the London Marathon, and now I finally have the opportunity, and to be able to run for Bowel Cancer UK means the absolute world to me - I can't wait to take to the streets of London next April.
Ahead of that I'll also be undertaking a number of other challenges, including;
- Climbing Mount Olympus in Greece
- Running the York 10k
- Completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks
- Completing my first triathlon (TBC)
- Completing the Lyke Wake Walk (TBC)
- Running the Great North Run
- Running the Bury 10 miles
And I'm sure I'll find time to fit a few more events in between now and April. I'll keep this page updated with how I get on as well - and my Strava should be automatically syncing so you can keep an eye on my training runs. And if you're really interested in the ins and outs of it - I'll be documenting everything over on my instagram @beccasusan_
Bowel cancer is the 4th most common type of cancer in the UK and the 2nd biggest killer. Over 42,000 people are diagnosed with this disease annually. Bowel Cancer UK fund life changing research and support to patients and their families (among much, much more) and I can't think of a more deserving charity to fund raise for.
If you can, please sponsor me on this challenge - it would mean the world to me 💛💛💛
