Story

Thanks for visting our fundraising page.

Recently, one of our very best runners and dearest friends caught the flu, just like countless others. Unlike for most other people though, this became pneumonia and within hours sepsis.

Thankfully, and against all odds, they survived. Not everyone is as lucky.

We are raising funds for UK Sepsis Trust so we can help find out why sepsis kills so many young, fit people. Before this shock, a lot of our club probably would have told themselves, "this can't happen to me". The reality isn't so simple.

In addition to more research, we need more information, help and support for families and victims so they are able to recover and be given the chance to lead a full and healthy life again.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.
