Hi Everyone,

Ed and I are leaving for The Gambia in roughly two weeks' time. I am going to work in the A&E department of the Royal Victoria Hospital in Banjul, the capital. I will be there for one year.

We only confirmed this at the beginning of January so a proper fundraiser is unlikely to happen, much as you all know how much I'd love to run the marathon.

We are going through VSO, a fantastic charity which sends skilled professionals out to other countries to share those skills with others in often challenging environments. VSO like many organisations has had to tighten its belt recently and so any fundraising we can do will be gratefully received and will go straight to them to continue in their much needed work.
