Every hour, two people in the UK are told they have Parkinson's. It affects 145,000 people in the UK – which is around one in 350 of the adult population
Parkinson's is a degenerative neurological condition, for which there currently is no cure. The main symptoms of the condition are tremor, slowness of movement and rigidity

Parkinson’s UK Aylesbury branch covers Aylesbury Vale and the surrounding area. It is run by volunteers and relies entirely on fundraising and donations to provide support and activities for local people with Parkinson’s. The Aylesbury branch of Parkinson’s UK brings together people with Parkinson’s both younger, older and their partners, friends, carers and other family members. The aim is to improve the wellbeing of everyone in the local area affected by the condition.
The branch organises opportunities to meet and relax with local people who understand Parkinson’s, monthly branch meetings with guest speakers, activities to improve mental and physical fitness for people at various stages of Parkinson’s, support for partners, carers and other family members.
The branch includes a working age group (WAG), known as the Heroes, formed from active, like-minded people who want to self-manage their condition and bring back some normality into their lives since diagnosis. The branch and WAG are run by volunteers who organise a range of fundraising activities and events to pay for support and activities.
Aylesbury Heroes are a new group. The Heroes believe that exercise, friendship, motivation and well-being are essential in living their lives to the full. The exercise programme offered by the Aylesbury Heroes is both designed to help you control your symptoms  through the Warrior programme, but also to take you further and improve your level of fitness overall.
