Story
There are plenty of valuable and honorable cause worth fighting for in the world. But when I learned that 10% of the world population do not have access to cleanwater while there are concrete solutions that exists to tackle this problem, I thought that maybe we should do something.
Did you know that millions of people rely on water sources that are at high or moderate risk of fecal contamination due to lack of toilets or poor sewer systems? Even water that is safe at its source (for example from a water treatment plant) is at risk of becoming contaminated unless it is treated, transported, stored, and handled safely. Chemical contamination is another real threat in many places across the world. Millions of people drink water containing arsenic or fluoride at levels designated unsafe by World Health Organization guidelines.
With BEA and HALMA, we have decided to partner with WATERAID to support this cause. WaterAid is working to make clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation. The international not-for-profit organization works in 28 countries to change the lives of the poorest and most marginalized people. Since 1981, WaterAid has reached 26.4 million people with clean water and 26.3 million people with decent toilets.
Through a 2-year campaign, BEA, HALMA and WATERAID will be working together to support clean water accessibility in North India with a focus on two districts Bhagalpur and Buxar (Bihar State), that are badly affected by poor water quality. Our fundraising will help in financing the restauration of water sources, pipes and infrastructures while raising awareness about clean water usage and hygiene.
As a sponsor of this meaningful program, I aim to raise awareness about this dramatic water problem and try to collect 1000 GBP to finance the restauration of 4 water sources in North India.
