Story

Hi friends,

I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Dementia UK on the 9th of October.

My mum, Kirsty, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's (a form of dementia) at the end of 2018 at only 52, and since then the horrible disease has progressively taken her memories, speech and independence.

I can't imagine how difficult it is for people struggling with dementia, but it becomes a struggle for the whole family both practically and mentally. The last few years have been a constant grieving process as the disease has taken mum away from us bit by bit.

There is no cure for Alzheimer's and my mum now needs full-time care. In order to help, I am raising money for Dementia UK who is the specialist dementia nurse charity helping to improve the quality of life of people living with dementia. They support and develop nurses to provide important care for those with dementia and give families much needed respite.

Any donation you could give would mean so much.

Thanks for reading!

Bea xx
