Story
Rory Cheetham our son passed away on the 12th of January, he was just 19 and suffered from a rare genetic heart condition, ARVC.
Rory was a keen surfer and on the morning of the 12th of Jan had been surfing on Saunton Beach in Devon, the wave that day was one of the best there had been for a year. The sun was shining, the conditions couldn't have been more perfect. Rory's defibrillator triggered while he was in the water but he came ashore, brushed himself off, got changed and climbed into the back of his friend's VW van. Sadly Rory passed away on the journey back to Exeter University.
Rory was studying Biology with a view to becoming a shark specialist, he was a passionate about the oceans and everything in them. He was also a keen conservationist. As a family we discussed the problem of ocean plastics with Rory on many occasions, which is why we felt he would be proud for us to help Surfers Against Sewage in their crusade to clean up our seas.
