Story
My name is Seth Wise and I’m here to tell you about my Epic Year of Events!
I have always had a passion for keeping fit and enjoy challenging my body to push itself to the limit of its capabilities. This passion has been fuelled by a keen interest in endurance sports. Having played competitive rugby since the age of 11 I have not previously had the opportunity to explore my interests further, until now that is…..
Having recently turned 30 I have decided it is time to take my interest in endurance sports to the next level and as such I will be taking a sabbatical from rugby and over the next 12 months undertaking an Epic Series of Events!
In November 2012 I will take on the first of four challenges, an Ironman 70.3. I will follow this up with back to back sub 4 hour marathons in April 2013 over consecutive weekends in Brighton and London. Finally I will take on the ultimate challenge of a full Ironman Triathlon in May 2013.
To clarify the task ahead of me; the Ironman Triathlon is a grueling three discipline event consisting of a 2.4 mile open water swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run all within a time limit of 17 hours.
Aside from my own personal determination I am driven and inspired to complete these challenges in aid of some very worthy causes. The Stroke Association and Cancer Research.
In recent years a number of close friends and family members have had their lives affected and in some cases cruelly taken by conditions that both of these fantastic charities work hard to research whilst also providing care and support to the many people affected across the UK.
I will through my endeavours be looking to raise a sum no smaller than £10,000 which will be divided equally between my two designated charities.
I’m sure you will agree that the next 12 months are going to be physically and mentally the hardest of my life and any support you feel you can offer would be greatly appreciated by myself and my charity partners.
You can find more information on the events I will be competing in, my designated charities and my fantastic sponsors who without this whole campaign would not be possible on my website www.be-epic.co.uk
Thanks for your time and in advance for supporting me to BE EPIC!
