Story
I was diagnosed with Stage 3 bowel cancer ("the poo cancer") in January 2018. Bowel Cancer UK are funding research and campaigning for better public awareness of the symptoms - especially in the growing number of under 50s now getting the disease.
Symptoms:
- Bleeding from your bottom and/or blood in your poo
- A persistent and unexplained change in bowel habit
- Unexplained weight loss
- Extreme tiredness for no obvious reason
- A pain or lump in your tummy
Throughout June I'll be doing 30 minutes of physical activity a day for 30 days as part of Bowel Cancer UK’s Step up for 30 challenge.
I'm currently having chemotherapy, but exercise helps me cope with the side-effects (lifts my mood, reduces fatigue, and improves my immune system) and also reduces the probability of recurrence. So as well as raising money this will be a great incentive for me to get out the house every single day - even if it's just a gentle walk.
If I raise £100 by 28th May I also get a free technical t-shirt :)
Thank you for your support xx
