Story
An avid cyclist and hiker his whole life, Peter Burbery has wanted to climb Nevis for many years, but never got around to doing it.
It was one of the first things we talked about when we began walking together. The original plan was to head up in June 2020. Sadly we weren't able to. We are now able to make the trip up on June 28th/29th 2022
Being 86 brings its own challenges. Add in being blind and you'd think it would be even more daunting. Not for Peter. Neither being an octogenarian or blind has deterred Peter at all.A very active member of Blind Veterans he has continued a lifelong passion for all things outdoors, tandem cycling, walking, gardening the list goes on!
Despite considerable restrictions though the lockdown era and the occasional minor injury, Peter has trained hard. His enthusiasm hasn't waned and although we'll need to recover a little time lost out in the wild, we will be ready to make the trip from Brighton to Fort William, up Nevis and back in a few short weeks.
It wouldn't be right to put this together without asking for donations to help BVUK continue to support their members. Your donations help the charities members in so many ways, from coffee mornings and organised trips to more extreme events.
Please show Peter your support by making a donation, and by doing so help more Blind Veterans take on challenges such as this one!
