Story

Due to the global pandemic our epic journey continues (although delayed) in June 2022! Thank you for your donations so far, the page is open once again so we can continue fundraising so we can help those most in need.

Team DBBK consists of 5 young (mostly) sprightly (questionable) and enthusiastic fundraisers looking to raise a good sum of money by completing the Help For Heroes (H4H) 2020 Big Battlefield Bike Ride (BBBR).

Team DBBK is now complete and fundraising is well under way. Our newest recruit for the team comes in the form of the big D aka David (Diver) Dale, he is a great addition to the team who has hit the ground running with fundraising, David has a strong sporting pedigree having played football at a high level in his youthful years, David has a thirst for a challenge which will only help in seeing him through the BBBR 2020.

The two B’s; Barclay and Brechin. Mark Barclay, the elder spear head of our fundraising effort, has raised almost £47,000 for H4H over the last 10 years. He will be with us every pedal of the way, but is continuing to raise funds via his own very successful just giving page. The second B is Jamie Brechin, a cracking guy with a can-do attitude who is boyfriend to Mark’s daughter Gemma. As a younger man he was a recruit for the Combined Cadet Force holding the position of Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major, he recently ventured into the world of running, completing his first Glasgow half marathon for H4H in September 2019.

The K is for Kennedys, who come in the form of me (Adam) and my much older twin brother Dan. Dan an adventurer at heart, was a member of the Officer Training Corps during his time at university and has completed tough mudders and assault courses in aid of H4H. The final part of the team name is completed by your’s truly, having run the 2018 London marathon on behalf of H4H. Subsequently, I’m looking to complete a new challenge (albeit a rookie in the saddle) and continue to raise further funds for this great cause.

Who knows what a 500km Bike ride will bring, but we will have as much fun as possible pedalling like the clappers across France. Our team focus is to raise as much money as possible and give back to those who have given so much through their military service. All support is greatly appreciated and we‘ll be sure to share our plans and various fundraising activities with you.

Cheers
