TEAM BBcc RIDERS
Andrew Keeble, Simon Wilson
Please just give and cheer us on for a little blood, sweat and gears. Because! When men, muscles and machines connect, extraordinary things can happen. Like raising a few quid for a very worthwhile cause - St. Gemma's Hospice in Leeds.
WHAT THE BBcc PLAN TO DO?
We aim to raise money by completing a self-fuelled and self-funded 500 mile cycle ride from LEEDS to PARIS in just 5 days and help support St. Gemma's Hospice along the way. Every pound raised will go directly to the charity. St. Gemma's Hospice is fully self funded and costs over £24,000 per day to run their specialist care services. Without vital fund raising help they wouldn't be able to keep going.
PLAN THE RIDE, RIDE THE PLAN
Our route and dates: Start - 10th August, Rawdon to Congerstone - 107 miles. 11th August, Congerstone to Hurley - 107 miles. 12th August, Hurley to Newhaven - 88 miles. Ferry crossing to Dieppe. 13th August, Dieppe to Senlis - 116 miles. 14th August, Senlis to Paris - 71 miles. Finish.
HELP US TO HELP THEM
St Gemma’s Hospice provides the best possible care and quality of life for local people with cancer and other terminal illnesses. It’s a friendly, warm and safe place at the heart of the local community with a large range of expert services to support patients, their families and friends. Your sponsorship will enable St Gemma’s to continue to provide palliative care to patients in the Patient In-Unit, Day Hospice and in the comfort of their own home. All their services are free of charge to patients, families and carers but are not free to provide.
· It costs £24,000 to run the hospice for a day.
· £6,500 to care for an individual patient referred to the hospice.
· £470 per day to care for one In-Patient.
· £225 per day for one of our St Gemma’s Community nurses to treat a patient in their own home.
· £50 to provide a bereavement session for a child who is experiencing a loved one’s illness or death.
Support from people such as yourself sponsoring us to ride from Leeds to Paris is important and more crucial than ever. St Gemma’s Hospice care is provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Your money will help them to be there for those who need end of life care in the future.
