Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
In May we, three overweight and out of shape journalists, will attempt to cycle from London to the journalists' memorial at Bayeux, France. The ride will mark the anniversary of the death in Baghdad of our friends and colleagues, Paul Douglas, a CBS News Cameraman, and James Brolan, a freelance Soundman on assignment with CBS News.
The trip from the Fleet Street church of St. Brides, to the Reporters Without Borders memorial in Bayeux is being organized to raise money for two charities nominated by the Douglas and Brolan families.
We plan to make the 200 mile ride over five days, arriving in Bayeux on 29th May, 2009, the third anniversary of the day Paul and James were killed by a Baghdad roadside bomb.
We will stop at locations along the route where memorials have been erected to our friends; at St. Brides, at the CBS News European Broadcast Centre in Chiswick, at Twickenham Rugby stadium's Walk of Heroes and in Bayeux at the Reporters without Borders memorial to fallen journalists.
All monies raised will be shared between the Rory Peck Trust www.rorypecktrust.org/ and Reporters Without Borders www.rsf.org. Both charities work tirelessly to protect and support journalists around the world.
Thank you for your support.
