Having already completed half marathons i thought i would go one better this time and take on the challenge of a full marathon. Personal reasons are not only why i am undertaking this challenge. The lastest statistics (2010) indicated that around 325,000 people were diagnosed with cancer in the UK, that's around 890 people every day. Fortunatley i have not suffered from this disease myself but both family and friends have suffered from it, many have survived but sadly many have not. Cancer does not just have a huge impact on the suffer's life it also has a huge emotional impact on loved ones and friends. As well as running for a personal challenge I also want to make a contribution by helping to raise money to help fight this horrible disease and run in the memory of loved ones and friends who are no longer here due to this disease. 

Those are the reasons why i am undertaking this challenge in order to raise money for Jane's appeal, one of the biggest cancer charities in the UK. Here is a little background:

 When the Appeal was launched back in 2002 Jane & Mike, Jane's husband, set themselves the challenge of raising as much money as possible in order to support an array of children's and cancer charities across the country. With every endurance event Jane did came an overhwelming level of support from members of the public and before her death in 2007 Jane had raised an amazing £1.85million.
