Story

KCL's Brazilian Society is introducing a new initiative: bateria (samba drums)!

How to describe what a “Bateria de Samba” is. There is no one way to define it, but picture this:

You’re in varsity, playing a tight match against UCL. You look into the stands and see your KCL friends in the crowd, cheering you on and blasting their vocal chords off to your plays.

Now, add a HUUGE group of people playing all kinds of different instruments, cheering along with the crowd and celebrating your plays. Lifting the crowd and players up and creating this insanely motivating atmosphere.

This is what we want to bring to KCL. A huge part of Brazilian university culture, the Bateria de Samba is a group for anyone into sports, music, Brazilian culture and plain old socialising. With weekly rehearsals, we will personally teach you how to play the instrument you want to learn and together build this project up from the ground.

Other than meeting your friends weekly for rehearsals and lessons, the Bateria can take you places you never thought it could, from traveling all over London to play for your friend’s teams, to traveling abroad to meet up with other Bateria groups and perform and parade together.

If this resonates with you in any way, this is definitely for you! Come join and support our initiative and be one of the people to bring this dream to reality!

BATU-KINGS is waiting for you!
