ESL UK announces the return of Battle of the Brands, the esports charity derby for SpecialEffect
In 2017, one callout tweet from Ebuyer towards the UK tech giants was enough to start a Twitter war, which has now turned into a very competitive annual charity event - Battle of the Brands will be back in January for the second year running, raising money for the UK based gamer’s charity, SpecialEffect
ESL UK will once again partner up with four of the UK’s largest tech specialists to host Battle of the Brands, the second incarnation of the esports charity derby.
The competition will be streamed live on Twitch and Facebook on 6 January 2019, but you can already get involved by donating and sharing the Just Giving Page.
This time around the five games in the offering:
- CS:GO
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
- Overwatch
- Overcooked 2
- Soulcalibur VI
The first ever Battle of the Brands was a huge success which saw the tournament attract over 222,000 fans on Twitch, and reaching over a million people including Facebook and Twitter with a total of £16,729 raised for Special Effect.
SCAN were crowned champions in the first ever Battle of the Brands - can they keep their title and stay on the top? Will BOX, last year’s MVPs, take their ace performance and turn it into a win? Can Ebuyer put their money where their mouth is and use the fire they tweet with to win the tournament? Or have PC Specialist got the skills to pay the bills and rank the best?
UK retailer team lineups and their top influencers representing each brand will be confirmed on ESL UK social media over the coming weeks. Follow the action and get involved using the event hashtag #BotB.Thank you for raising money for the UK gamer's charity SpecialEffect!
