Established in 1978 Battersea Mosque is a growing 38 year old Islamic Centre that is struggling to cater for its fast growing Muslim community. The centre is in the process of expanding in order to adequately cater for its local community and is in critical need of funding to successfully complete its expansion programme.
Below are some of the problems this expansion will help us overcome inshAllah.
- Accommodate most if not all the 100 children that are currently on the waiting list for the Madrassah classes.
- Help us avoid splitting the daily congregation prayers into two separate buildings across the road from each other.
- Help us avoid mussali’s for the Jumma and Eid prayers being forced to pray on the pavement and streets. Which results in complaints from local residents?
- Install female prayer facilities for the local Muslim women.
- Install access for wheelchair users so that all Muslims are able to use the Mosque safely.
- Expansion of the main prayer hall to allow for coffins to be brought into the main prayer hall for the Janaza prayers. Previously coffin’s had to be kept by the rear secondary exit door at the bottom of the stairs and people had to queue on the pavement outside the Masjid to see the body of the deceased.
