In early 2009, Dave Hawkins, a long time work colleague of mine who I have known for over 30 years was diagnosed with Mesothelioma Cancer.
Mesothelioma is a rare incurable form of cancer that is brought on by exposure to asbestos.
I will be running the Sony Ericsson Run to the Beat Half Marathon on Sunday 26th September 2010 at the O2 Arena London and have chosen Cancer Research UK as my chosen charity for the run. The half marathon starts at 9.45am and lasts for just over 13 miles and I am ariming for a time of around 2 hours and 20 minutes.
I will also be donating 25% of the total raised to the Isabel Hospice in Welling Garden Hertfordshire where Dave is currently staying and is being extremely well looked after. The hospice is also directly funded by the public and relies heavily on volunteer help.
So as you can see, Cancer Research is something that is very close to me and are fully funded through the public and recieve no corporate funding.
Your donations no matter the size will be greatly appreciated and help Cancer Research do what they do best and thats help to take care of those affected.
Even a £1 donation can help make a difference.
