Story
In February this year we sadly lost my Mum to breast cancer. Her bravery throughout this illness was astonishing. She refused to be beaten and continued to enjoy life right to the end. We miss her every day. In an attempt to create something good from such an awful loss, I have decided to get myself into shape and run the Bristol Half Marathon in support of MacMillan Cancer Care.
With the help of MacMillan Cancer Care and specifically Heather, her MacMillan Nurse, my Mum was able to remain in the comfort of her own home. They provided invaluable support and care during the most difficult of times. Whether getting in equipment for the home, arranging for doctors to visit, advising on adjustments to the cocktail of medicines she had to take, making tea, providing a shoulder to cry on - nothing was too much trouble. For those of you reading this outside the UK - all of this is provided free of charge as MacMillan is a charity and get no funding from our NHS.
It is therefore vital that we support MacMillan Cancer Care so that they can continue providing this incredible standard of care. Having seen what my Mum had to endure during her illness, I could not imagine anyone having to do-so without macMillan by their side. So please dig deep in those pockets and donate to this amazing charity.
