Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the Barnton Park Lawn Tennis Club's JustGiving page.
Barnton Park LawnTennis Club (BPLTC) lies in the heart of the Cramond / Davidson's Mains community in the North West of Edinburgh. It is a family orientated club with 5 all weather courts and currently has over 300 members.
Over the last 6 months, the Club has been upgrading its facilities. Two courts have been refurbished and three courts have been completely replaced. To celebrate the opening of the new courts we planned a special 'Opening Weekend' which we called the Barnton Festival of Tennis.
As this was a special weekend for us we wanted to do something different and memorable and that's when we decided to run the weekend in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Over the years many of our members have been effected both directly and indirectly by cancer therefore we felt it was an appropriate partnership for the Club.
Over the weekend (12/13 May) in addition to the official court opening ceremony, we ran the following events:
- U8 and U9 Tennis Tournaments
- Scottish Tennis Elite Exhibition Match
- Open Family Fun Morning
- Over 60's Invitational Mixed Doubles Tournament
In addition we sold home-baking as well as lots of other goodies.
The weekend was a great success and we managed to raise £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
As a Club we plan to continue to support Macmillan in every way we can - the statistics regarding cancer in the UK are frightening. Every penny donated goes straight to the heart of the charity and works immediately to tackle this terrible disease. Your help in this is much appreciated.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
