Story

Thank you for taking the time to look at my JustGiving sponsorship page.  A HUGE thank you to everyone who has already sponsored me.  I have hit my target thanks to everyone's generosity, but the charity is in desperate need of more, so I have upped it a little.  Any amount of sponsorship, no matter how small, will make a difference.

Please DO check out my website for this challenge at:

http://braveorfoolish.org.uk - From Pregnancy Drama to the London Marathon

You will find a lot of information on me, including the full story of my own losses and subsequent successful dramatic pregnancies, and also information about The Miscarriage Association and how your sponsorship will really help.

It is also a blog, keeping readers up to date with how things are going with my challenge - the ups and the downs.. I try to keep it interesting and amusing if I can!  Please feel free to follow it!

Please select "Read More" for more details of this challenge and for details of sponsoring me.

As some of you will know, losing a baby in pregnancy can be a really unhappy and frightening experience.   I have had two first trimester losses, and I found the wonderfully supportive leaflets provided by The Miscarriage Association really helped when I needed it most.

I also came extremely close to losing my second daughter last year, and I do not know how I would have coped.  So I am not just doing this for me - so many of my dear friends have suffered losses and I have seen what they are going through and I have not really been able to help.  By competing in the Virgin London Marathon in 2010 to raise money for The Miscarriage Association, I can do something tangible to help UK parents deal with their loss.

The Miscarriage Association helps by providing information and support when it’s most needed.

Income from event sponsorship makes up more than a quarter of The M.A.’s £200,000 annual budget, so every penny of your sponsorship will really make a difference.  What’s more, if you are a UK taxpayer and Gift Aid whatever you give, you’re adding another 28% to the charity without it costing you a thing.

Take a look at the figures and see what your money can do:

£5 pays for sending out a pack of 5 information leaflets on miscarriage facts and feelings

£17 pays for helpline support and a leaflet pack for one person

£20 means staff can send leaflet packs to four people

£36 will staff the helpline for an hour (responding to 2 to 4 requests for help)

£50 pays for one hour’s outreach costs, telling 10 nurses, midwives or doctors about The M.A.

£100 will enable The M.A. to train a new support volunteer

£250 pays for a training session for GPs or hospital doctors

£500 means they can send leaflet packs to 100 people

£1,000 will cover the cost of researching, writing and producing a new information leaflet

If you prefer to donate via (post-dated or otherwise) cheque, please see my blog for a contact email address to find out details.  It is a lot easier to use JustGiving however, and I have used them many times to sponsor friends myself!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
