Story
On Sunday 30th April, our school mascot, Barney Owl, will be fleeing the nest and heading over to Wetherby Race Course to take part in the annual Sue Ryder Mascot Gold Cup! Lining up alongside 54 other elite mascots such as Debra the Zebra, The Richmond Sausage and Danger Mouse, Barney Owl will attempt to cover 225yds of Wetherby Race track and navigate over obstacles up to a dizzying height of 50cm!
Fresh from Manchester Marathon, Mr Earnshaw will be transporting Barney to and from the event, making sure his feathers are pruned and ensuring Barney is warmed up and fully stretched to prevent pulling a wing.
The event takes place every year to raise funds for Manorlands Hospice in Keighley, West Yorkshire. A special place close to Mr Earnshaw's heart which is full of the most hardworking, supportive and kind staff you could ever imagine.
Any donation would be massively appreciated and will help make a huge difference.
A full replay of the race will be available to watch in school next week!
