As you will appreciate, Mary Anne, Sally & Penny are the Barber Beauties (of course)! As many of you will know, our 93-year-old mother has had Alzheimer's disease for a number of years. Although we are fortunate that she is well cared for in a home and still recognises us to an extent, many are not so lucky and struggle on a daily basis to find suitable support.
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity. Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and there’s currently no cure. The Society funds research to find a cure and supports people living with dementia today.
On the 3rd September the three of us will be taking part in Trek26 Stonehenge (and doing the half marathon version!) to raise funds for The Alzheimer's Society. If you’d like to sponsor us we’d be incredibly grateful. We're going to have to do lots of training, which will be particularly challenging for Sally with her arthritis and two bionic knees, but your donations will make all the hard work worth it.
Week one of training in the New Forest. A hearty walk planned - scuppered by Sally choosing to trip over after 200 yards! Did manage a couple of miles, however, but frozen peas required on our return home. Let's hope the training improves .....
