Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My friend Helen died in August 2013 from complications from her third bone marrow transplant which was the only potential cure for a very rare disease called aplastic anaemia. Helen's family have been raising money in her memory and this has been specifically allocated by Anthony Nolan to research into graft vs host disease and to funding nurses who provide post-transplant care. A bone marrow transplant often gives hope of survival but it is not a guaranteed cure and more research and support for the post-transplant phase is needed.
In memory of Helen and to support the legacy that her family have worked hard to create through Anthony Nolan, I've decided to take on the Transrockies Run (www.transrockies-run.com) which is a 6 day 120 mile race through the Colorado Rockies with around 20,000ft of elevation gain. I've done a bit of running before but have never attempted anything like this! If I can cross the finish line, it will definitely be one of the biggest mental and physical challenges I have ever completed and your support will help to keep me going in those darker moments when my feet are blistered, my legs are aching there is another mountain around the next corner!
The trip and race entry is entirely funded by me and all sponsorship will be passed to Anthony Nolan.
