Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
I'm now at the serious training stage so if you see me NOT doing any of these: writing reports / working (boo), cycling, eating and drinking healthily, looking after Isla, tell me off and make me go riding!
I've just raised loads of money at a charity event at the Rowing Club, Thanks to everyone who helped, bidded and contributed! I raised £531 at that event, the rest has been from a brilliant bake sale at school, donations and sponsorship. So that now lets me concentrate on the fun fitness side of things and hope that the donations continue to top up as I go :)
Here's my details if you've not looked this up before:
As you have you are probably aware that I'm doing my cycle ride across the country in August. Seems a long way off but if I don't get a move on with training and fundraising it's no going to be good!
First thing was to switch to a road bike and start training and then get all the webpages sorted. Next I'll be contacting the papers and publicising my wallpapering fundrauising idea! Not sure how many people will sig up but I'll be advertised in local DIY shops etc so let's hope it'll pay off!
I'm raising money for Sightsavers, have a look at their website, they explain it far better than I could. It's amazing how a little money can make a massive difference to people's quality of life. After seeing the fantastic difference that having cataracts removed had on my own mum, I can only imagine the huge help that would give to kids and adults in less fortunate circumstances. Sightsavers state that 80% of all blindness is preventable, they just need the funds, drugs and medical staff to do it. Have a read about river blindness, that can be avoided with cheap prevenatitve drugs. And Trachoma: I'm sure you will have seen the distressing pictures of people with turned in eyelids when their eyelashes scrape and ruin their corneas. How excruciating that must be. Well Sightsavers do lots of preventative things to protect people from this awful condition, and carry out many small operations to help overcome the symptoms too. I think by supporting this charity, every penny we raise will have a visible (!!) effect on people.for instance, only £5 will provide an operation to stop the pain and prevent blindness from Trachoma!
Now you know what I'm doing and why I'm doing it, please make a donation to this site if you can afford to, it'll have a direct effect, Thank you. : )
