I am now back from Milan and very happy that I managed to improve on my previous time by 21 minutes, finishing in just under 4 hours (3:58:54 to be precise)! This page will stay open for a bit longer so there is still time to make a donation...

Last year it was Tokyo, this year it's Milan. Training has been tough going but I stuck to it so I am confident that I will get round and will perhaps even improve on last year's time of 4h20.

This year I am fundraising for the Helen Bamber Foundation, a small UK charity supporting victims of torture. Its founder was part of one of the first rehabilitation teams to enter the Belsen concentration camp and help survivors put their lives together again. At over 80 she still works with victims of torture focusing on the most traumatised. I find her story inspiring and hope you will make a donation, however small to support her worthwhile efforts.

Letztes Jahr Tokio, dieses Jahr Milan.

Das Training war hart, aber ich habe mich an meinen Plan gehalten und bin ziehmlich sicher, dass ich die Strecke schaffe und vielleicht sogar meine Zeit vom letzten Jahr (4 Stunden 20 Minuten) verbessere.

Dieses Jahr sammele ich fuer die Helen Bamber Foundation, eine kleine britische Wohltaetigkeitsorganisations, die Opfer von Folterungen unterstuetzt. Ihre Gruendering war Mitglied eines der ersten Rehabilitationsteams, die Ueberlebenden des  Konzentrationslagers von Bergen Belsen geholfen haben, wieder auf die Fuesse zu kommen. Mit ueber 80 arbeitet sie immer noch mit den Opfern von Folterungen und konzentriert sich dabei auf die schlimmsten Faelle. Ich finde ihre Geschichte beeindruckend und hoffe, dass ihr der Organisation eine Spende zukommenlasst, um ihre Bemuehungen zu unterstuetzen.
