Story
Dear Friends and Supporters,
This is going to be a surprise to many of you, and possibly a big shock to my system, because I have decided to challenge myself to climb Mount Kilimanjaro – virtually of course – in order to raise funds for St John Ambulance, London Polish Division.
Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, is 2,578 flights of stairs high – or 38,680 steps.
I don’t, of course, intend to do it all in one day – or even a week or a month. But I do intend to complete the challenge and I will post my progress regularly on social media and this site.
Today, for example, I did six flights – so only another 2,572 to go.
This challenge and money-raising effort is important to me for several reasons. St John Ambulance has re-routed many of its resources to help the COVID-19 emergency and the NHS. St John Ambulance receives most of its funds from donations, and through its commercial arm, especially when providing support at big events such as football matches, concerts and street marathons. All these sources of funding have ceased operating for the time being. St John Ambulance has devolved all its resources to help the NHS and is rapidly running out of money to be abe to carry out its day to day work.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Lots of love to you all
