Lucy and I are walking in celebration and remembrance of our lovely Katie, who passed away in April 2008, aged 22. 

Katie lived and loved life to the full and fought her disease not only with determination, but also with dignity, grace and courage: probably the bravest person we will ever know.

She loved to laugh and her loud, raucous (dirty!) laughter is  what many of us will remember most about her.

Katie was also an artist and her art gave her comfort and pleasure even during the darkest of times. She had an amazing eye for colour and detail in her work - though this apparently did not extend to her dress sense and she often looked like an explosion in a paint factory!

With the help and support of the staff at St Barnabas, we were able to make Katie's final days the best that they could be, surrounded by those who loved her the most.
