Story
As you all know I am no action woman, but I will be taking part in the 7.5km London Memory Walk on the 13th October to honour my darling Mama’s 90th birthday, which would have taken place this August. I had been planning her celebration but sadly Mama unexpectedly passed away last spring. Whilst Alzheimer’s was not the primary cause of her passing, it had troubled her for many years.
My hope is to raise £900 as this will supply a year’s worth of human brain cells for future research and enable Alzheimer’s Research UK to continue their work in finding a cure for this unforgiving, frightening and emotionally painful illness. For reasons that are not clear, there are about twice as many women as men over the age of 65 with Alzheimer’s disease. Unfortunately, one person develops dementia every three minutes in the UK.
I have never attempted anything remotely physical before, however in memory of my beloved Mama and to help raise funds for research into this cruel disease, that effects so many, as they say, “in for a penny, in for a blister”, come rain or shine I am determined to finish this one-off 7.5km walk to raise much needed funds.
Every donation will genuinely secure a better future for all of us.
