Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
This year we have decided to raise funds for two different charities, the Lymphoma Association and Cystic Fibrosis care at Frimley.
It's been 2 years and 7 months since Jamie passed away, and I worry sometimes that he will be forgotten, so we have decided to trek up Kilamanjaro in his memory because we can.
On Jamie's 17th year we were told that he would be transitioning into adult care at Cystic Fibrosis Unit in Frimley. This was terrifying because for 17 years his CF clinic was at Wexham Park (apart from annual review at John Radcliffe and Churchill once a year) but as soon as we arrived at the CF unit in Frimley there was a chemistry between the consultants, the nursing staff and Jamie. He would wind them up like crazy. He once drove a mobile scooter around the ward crashing into everything, he was very menacing.
Within a couple of months of Jamie attending the clinics they found he had CF related diabetes and Gilberts Syndrome and treated him respectively.
Jamie started putting on weight but as he got older his disease deteriorated making him oxygen dependent, his lung function was 21% and he needed a double lung transplant.
On the 29th September Jamie was added to the transplant list and on the 1st October 2015 he got the call. Jamie was so brave he decided to take the risk but unfortunately after 5 operations we had to turn the machines off and say goodnight.
We miss him incredibly.
Our training starts on the 1st of February 2018 and as part of our training regime we are doing the five peaks challenge in June 2018. This challenge consists of climbing the 5 highest mountains in the UK and Ireland in 48 hours. Please help us support these worthy causes.
Thank you Bridget and Neil
