Swimathon 2019 · 29 March 2019 to 31 March 2019 ·
I've never been one to shy away from big challenges but this is the ultimate. On the 29th-31st March I'm going to take part in and complete the ultra hard triple 5k Swimathon challenge. This means I'll be swimming 200 lengths (5k) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
I've completed the single 5k before but needed four days to recover before I could walk normally and lift my arms! This time I'll have less than 24 hrs to recover before doing it all again.........twice! On top of the swims I've also got a Mr Banana Head party to do on Saturday morning.
In my mind this will be harder than my climb up Kilimanjaro in 2009. Amongst everything else I'll be 50 in January. As with all challenges it will be a mental test as well as physical and I know I've got that covered. The physical, not quite as much!
My daughter Katie will also be taking part on the Saturday to complete 100 lengths (2.5k) something she's never done before.
We'll be raising money for three great causes: Cancer Research, Marie Curie and the Swimathon Foundation. I'll also be completing each swim in memory of someone who was an inspiration to me and countless others.
Below is a brief intro but you can read more about them at:

Friday 29th March (Northolt) 12pm:
Steve Evans. Magician, surveyor, legend, bloke from the council and total and utter inspiration. He died in January 2014 aged 52.
Saturday 30th March (Westminster Lodge St Albans) 6pm:
Ellie Brewer, Jade's friend who tragically passed away on 8th August 2017 aged just 13.
Sunday 31st March (Harpenden) 3pm:
Harry Cohen, my Grandpa and friend who died in January 2003 aged 80.
Please give what you can be it £1 or £10,000. You never know, there may be some eccentric millionaires reading this who are feeling charitable.
Thank you for reading this and we'll do our best to make Steve, Ellie, Grandpa Harry and all of you proud.
All our love Paul and Katie.

Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity is dedicated to saving lives through research. They don’t receive any government funding for their work, so their progress is all thanks to the support of people like you.
Marie Curie provides expert care, guidance and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Around 2,100 Marie Curie Nurses work day and night, in people’s homes all over the UK, providing hands-on care to people when they need it most.
Together we can really make a difference. We invite our swimmers to tell their story to help spread awareness and raise vital funds for these two incredible causes.
