We help people get the support they need to stay safe from suicide

Story

Me and my mate Frit have taken on this challenge to walk 50km (about 14 hours) non-stop to raise money and awareness for Grassroots Suicide Prevention. We are known hence-forth as the banana fritters! (very fitting).

There is still a lot of stigmatism and widespread ignorance regarding mental ill health in the general population. We need charities like these to continue to raise awareness and support.

Personally I have close family members who have and are still suffering from mental illness and I would not wish that upon anyone or their families.

What I love about this chosen charity is the creative and practical work they're doing and I've also heard they're a great bunch to work for!

Did you know?

Suicide is the single biggest killer of men aged under-49 in the UK, with 76 per cent of all suicides in 2014 being male!

About the charity

We work to make sure nobody has to experience thoughts of suicide alone. We fight dangerous stigma that stops people talking about suicide. We teach communities to recognise and support those at risk. We develop new ways for people to get lifesaving support. Together, we can prevent suicide.
