Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2020 I completed the virtual 40th London Marathon around Hassocks, and I am proud to say that I finished despite injury. But I finished! One reason was to help the RNIB.
The RNIB is a charity our family has raised money for in the past. They are a fantastic charity who offer help and support for blind and partially sighted people – this can be anything from practical to emotional support.
When running my first marathon in 2018 I was inspired by meeting someone totally blind, who by then had ran over 340 marathons. I also interviewed him on my podcast to find out more about his experiences.
I volunteer for 'Be My Eyes', an app that allows blind and partially sighted people to video call volunteers to help them. My experiences include reading out medical prescriptions and setting up TVs remotely.
Sight is one of the core senses which as a sighted person we often take for granted. I personally could not imagine a life without sight. Without it comes huge challenges; especially now with Covid19, relying on others to keep socially distance.
Given this, I couldn't be happier to raise money for the RNIB.
In 2021 I will have the chance again to raise money, and I will use the same page, as I will support the RNIB and run the REAL London route. Fingers crossed.
Thanks in advance for your support,
Volker
