My team is participating in this fundraiser because Ronald McDonald House Charities holds a special place in our hearts. While my wife was pregnant, my son was diagnosed with a congenital lung defect. My wife and child underwent several prenatal surgeries in order to reduce the effects of the birth defect prior to birth, but ultimately, our family needed to relocate to Cincinnati to receive care from specialists in the pulmonary field. Our son had surgery to remove the upper left lobe of his lung on his third day of life, and spent a total of 19 days in the NICU at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

We were incredibly blessed to be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Cincinnati. The house gave us the opportunity to be steps away from the hospital and took away many of our worries, like housing and food. Since we’ve returned home, we have strived to ensure that the kindness we received from strangers is paid forward to the next family that enters the doors of a Ronald McDonald House.
