Story
Hello!
Welcome to our #badmakeup4CHD fundraising page! Inspired by the #nomakeupselfie and AKD/MND #icewaterbucketchallenge - We (CHD Mummies) have gathered together to raise much needed awareness of CHD (Congenital Heart Defect(s)).
CHDs affects 1 in 100 babies born every year and is the number one cause of childhood deaths in the UK. BUT there is very little research or monies available for research. Without research, we cannot find a cause or a cure. Congenital means "present at birth" or "born with". The heart and any defects are formed by day 28 of pregnancy and with the skill and expertise of sonographers, these defects are sometimes picked up at the 20 week anomaly scan. There are 35 recognised CHD's in the world, and this doesn't include heart defects that have been acquired through infections and other causes.
A group of us CHD mummies have gathered together to promote #badmakeup4CHD selfies.
Anyone can take part, you do not need to be a CHD mummy (or daddy!) - you don't even have to be a part of the CHD community; just willing to make a difference to the lives of children who have a congenital heart defect.
Apply your bad make-up, take a selfie. Facebook it, Tweet it or Instagram it. Nominate someone or more than 1 person to take up the challenge. Use #badmakeup4CHD and we will find you!
Please check out our Facebook Gallery for images of the #badmakeup4CHD faces and pictures of the children who are living or who have died from CHD!
Our chosen charity to raise money for is the wonderful HeartLine Families; who are a NATIONAL charity. So please take time to read more about the amazing work they do!
Thank you.
