Story
Basic story
One rainy afternoon I sent a few emails around AEGON and have managed to get a group of lads together to do a sponsored walk from Blackpool Tower to the front door of AEGON Lytham in aid of NSPCC.
Now.. most people can walk 8.5 miles without much trouble, so we decided to make it interesting by carrying a pack weighing around 35lb (16kg or 2.5 stone) or the weight of a small child on our backs. To make it a bit more challenging, we think 3hours is a good target time.
We will be looking at huge blisters, strained muscles and a bit of pain I should think.
There is a combined weight to carry of 210lb between the 6 of us....
We will be doing the walk on November 18th. In the afternoon. Working in the morning, transport to blackpool tower by half 12, walk to AEGON and collect sponsor money from around the building when we arrive.
Hopefully all the lads will make it....
UPDATE 05/11/2009 - we have been training for the walk with over 40lb backpacks (Ben with 50lb!) to try and make it easier on the day.... did 7 miles last night... feet hurt!
UPDATE 17/11/2009 - All the bags are packed... mild panic setting in as the weather is terrible tommorow. High wind and loads of rain..... We will pull through
Louise from the AEGON media team has very kindly organised a press release for the event, to be given to 2 local newspapers. Keep a look out for us!
UPDATE 19/11/2009 - Its done! pictures uploaded. Took us 2 hours 30 mins.
Our feet are ruined and shoulders are hurting but we all feel great! It rained the whole time though and the wind was in our face!
Already planning nexts years event... 3 peaks anyone???
Thanks so much for all the sponsorship, feel free to keep donating to help us reach our target
Thanks for looking!
