Story

Peyton was born with a rare heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. We were told this at his 20 week scan and after talking it through with the doctors decided to give our little man a chance to live. Peyton would need 3 stages of heart surgeries.

Peyton was born on 15-08-13 he was beautiful but we only got to see him briefly as the had to whisk him away to Yorkhill Childrens Hospital in Glasgow. Peyton went through a series of operation in his short life and had to fight every single day of his life. It started with his first open heart surgery. Then a line damaged his artery in his leg. This meant a operation to try and sort this which was not successful. This was followed by amputation of his lower left leg. After this Peyton had several infection which he continued to fight and NEC in his stomach. Again Peyton fought through all of this and for a month at the Christmas period he was off the ventilator and doing really well.

Into the New Year Peyton had a collapsed lung which forced him to go back on the ventilator. He waited almost 2 months for his next stage surgery. This was successful although when trying to wean Peyton off the ventilator the doctors seemed to be having a lot of problems. They felt that a tracheostomy was the only option. After this Peyton struggled and had a few cardiac arrests. The doctors felt there was no more they could do. They said his lungs were unrecoverable. On Monday 3rd March 2014 our brave boy gained his angel wings. We decided upon advice from the medical staff that we did not want him in any more pain. Peyton was a true inspiration to 1000's and a real life superhero. He defied the odds so many times. Rest In Peace my little Warrior.
