Story
Hi all,
Thanks for taking the time to visit.
For those of you that know me, the Manchester 10k is something I am familiar with, this being my fifth straight year of participating. However, this is the first year that I am doing it and running for a cause close to my heart.
My nephew Olly was born last November and was diagnosed with plagiocephaly (more commonly known as flat head syndrome). During the first crucial couple of months of a babies life, this condition can lead to a 'mis-shapen' head that, if left untreated, can cause serious issues as they grow most notably to eye sight as the brain causes pressure due to to the un-natural shape of the skull.
The most effective way of treating this is for Olly to wear a specially made helmet for 23 hours a day. However, it's very expensive and so I'm trying to help raise as much money as possible to go towards Olly's treatment.
So, if you have a spare couple of quid in the bank/your wallet/down the back of the sofa, to help my amazing little nephew, it would be very much appreciated.
I'm also aiming to complete the race in under 38 minutes, which would be a PB and know that there will be no better motivation on the day to get there, knowing this attempt to help Olly has been a successful one. The charity in question is called Headstart4babies and exist to raise awareness of the issue and provide support to families who find themselves with a baby that has the condition.
Thanks in advance for your generosity. Search me out on the BUPA site after the race to see if the PB was reached :)
