Below are a few words from Emma Clark, mother of Baby Ana.

Almost two years ago, my husband and I were excitedly expecting twin girls. At our 20 week appointment we sadly found out that one of our twin girls Ana had a problem with her kidneys and we were told that the outlook for Ana wasn’t good. Despite poor prognosis I carried both girls Ana and Olivia to term and we very sadly lost Ana just after she was born. Ana was such a beautiful little girl and she was such a fighter like her two sisters, she let out a big cry when she was born but sadly took her last breath lying on my chest wrapped up warm  with her little twin sister Olivia. Throughout the pregnancy it was a very traumatic time for all of us as a family, every scan and appointment, we lived in hope that something might change with Ana’s prognosis and each time we were left heartbroken.

Shortly after Ana’s prognosis, Claire’s house got in touch to offer support to parents like us who have children with life limiting conditions. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when I gave birth to my baby girls, would I be able to hold Ana and spend time with her after she passed away. Claire’s house were amazing throughout, they spent so much time supporting us with scan appointments and answering questions about what would happen once I gave birth. This was what I needed in this time of scare and uncertainty.

After we left the hospital we left with both baby girls, we all stayed in Claire’s house and Ana stayed in a beautiful butterfly suite, this is where we could actually spend time holding her and making the very precious memories we have of her short life today. These moments were so special and something that we cherish every single day. I cannot thank Claire’s house enough for the support they have given and continue to give me and my family.
