Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation in loving memory of my dad by running with my bestie Emily and I'd be so grateful for all of your support. I am willing to give my all to this brilliant charity!!
I lost my dad, Chris, when I was 14 years old. We were so unaware of any heart issues and circulatory diseases until, unfortunately, it was too late. I said goodbye at the front door as he drove down the drive to return home. Unaware to us all, this would actually be the last goodbye as Dad had an unexpected heart attack at the wheel.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK, but sadly, every day hundreds of people lose their lives, just like my dad. It's only thanks to the support from ourselves that we can really get this number down and help save lives. Alongside this, we are taking on this mission to improve our fitness and health. Losing my dad so suddenly really showed us that life can be taken at any moment and our health should always be a priority.
Growing up as a child, health and fitness was not something that was very important to me. Going to the gym or working out was not really my cup of tea. From this, I wasn't exactly the healthiest or smallest child.
Writing this now, fitness is hugely important to me. I believe that having this half-marathon in April will really motivate me to gain fitness and train hard. And also, having the chance to get out of the house and spend 60 minutes by myself will be so important. Don't get me wrong, I am no runner- I struggle to reach 5k on a good day! So, getting myself across that finish line is going to be the hardest mission to date.
With the cost of living increasing, any donations are really appreciated. Anything you can give will really help the foundation and kick my butt into running this half marathon!
Thank you so much for reading! From the bottom of my heart, I am truly grateful.
