Story

Masjid Al-Azhar

"Verily we belong to Allah and verily to Him do we return".

The above verse which I have said so many times, seen written in so many messages, but it is only now that I finally understood what it truly means.

On 18th July our world was turned upside down when we lost our father in a tragic accident. What was supposed to be a day out with family turned into a traumatic event that will live with us forever and one where we lost the leading light of our family and community. Words aren't enough to describe the sense of grief each member of our family is currently going through, nor can we explain the emptiness we feel without his beautiful smile and loving character blessing our home each day.

We are blessed with the beautiful deen of Islam, and it is through our Lord we seek ease and comfort, and we hope to become the coolness of his eyes once again in the hereafter. We wanted to remember him in the best way possible and share this opportunity with our friends and family. This is why we have decided on building a masjid in his name as sadaqah jariyah.

The Ultimate Ongoing Reward - Sadaqah Jariyah

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, ‘When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (a continuous charity), or knowledge from which benefit is gained, or a righteous child who prays for him’. (Muslim)

A dedicated place to practice and share your faith is so important but within Muslim communities in the developing world, they don’t always have this option. A mosque is the heart of any Islamic community, and you can gift this house of Allah (SWT) to those who have no place to congregate and pray with a simple act of Sadaqah Jariyah for yourself or someone that has passed away.

Build a mosque in this world
and build your palace in Jannah!
Mosques are as old as Islam itself; and just as the Prophet (ﷺ) helped to build the first mosque in Medina, you can help bring a masjid to people who’ve never known the blessings of praying together in a mosque. Help build a mosque in Azhar Baig's name.

Malawi is amongst the poorest countries in the world, where access to places of worship is limited. This is an opportunity to create a lasting legacy and providing a community with a centre through which they can access essential services such as food and water, as well as basic education.
