Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 2nd October, I will be running the TCS London Marathon in loving memory of my late father, raising funds for Diabetes UK.
This charity is close to my heart as my father suffered from type 2 diabetes for a number of decades. His diabetes caused complications with this heart, eye sight, feet and finally kidneys as he fell ill with end-stage kidney disease. I have seen first hand the impact this had on his health, daily life and on the wider family, and I'd like to help raise awareness of this illness so that other families do not go through a similar experience.
More people than ever have diabetes; its very likely you already know someone affected by this. It is the most devastating and fastest growing health crisis of our time; around 90% of people who have diabetes have type 2 diabetes.
I have never been much of a runner, so this year's marathon will be a big challenge for me personally, but one that I am looking forward to. With your support we can help bring about life-changing breakthroughs in care, treatment, prevention, and of course bring us ever-closer to a cure.
Thank you in advance for your generous donation and support; it's very much appreciated and it will make a difference! Please Gift Aid if you can, every penny helps.
