Story

I'm raising money to build a water well for my Dadi as a Sadaqah Jariyah. Dadi passed away on the 14th of June 2020. She was a wonderful woman with the most contagious smile and laughter. In recent years, she was bed bound and relied on others for her every need. She still remained patient throughout her struggles and did so with a beautiful smile on her face. We all have very fond memories of her and miss her dearly. The best thing that we can do for her now is to make dua and give charity on her behalf.

On the authority of Abu Hurairah (ra) that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, ‘When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (a continuous charity), or knowledge from which benefit is gained, or a righteous child who prays for him’. (Muslim)

Sadaqah Jariyah literally means ‘a continuous, ongoing, flowing charity’.

Building a water well is a very good way of offering a Sadaqah Jariyah  as the donor can expect to reap Allah’s blessings for as long as the well supplies water to those in need.
