Story
Thanks for making it through to my sponsor page….. At the end of April, I'm embarking on a 7 day hike along the Great Wall of China and through the Yanshan mountains in aid of Macmillan cancer support.
This will be my second biggest physical challenge. Going abroad normally means lounging in the sun and doing little more than pushing my purse to the limit so I thought I'd swap that for what seemed like the perfect activity trip - and all for a good cause. With April now upon us, reality has now hit home. The very limited shower facilities, the strong emphasis on wet wipes being an essential item on the kit list, the need for a head torch for 'finding somewhere to go to the toilet' and NO HAIR STRAIGHTNERS makes it that little bit more worrying!
My biggest physical challenge was the cancer that I fought 2 and a half years ago. Nothing could have prepared me for that experience. It’s an emotional roller coaster that doesn’t end when the gruelling treatment does and the fight in me still goes on every day. Tragically, it’s becoming far too common so the need for the support Macmillan provide is even more important. Still bearing the physical effects of my illness and treatment, this challenge seemed impossible when I considered it a few months ago. However, I’m determined to get to the other end just like I did back then, but this should be a walk in the park in comparison and an experience I’m planning to enjoy :)
The costs of the trip itself are funded by me so anything you donate will go directly to Macmillan. I'll be so grateful if you could help me reach my target.
Thanks very much.
Ayesha
